ABOUT
Hello! I am an artist, illustrator and graphic recorder working in a variety of mediums on paper and digitally. I'm often outside and am inspired by nature. I love to listen; I enjoy language and hearing peoples stories, the retelling of which is central to much of the work I create. Across all elements of my practice I like to take time to personalise so the visual story I'm telling is the right one.
I enjoy working across a diverse range of projects and commissions, from making bespoke prints and drawings, commissioned illustration work, to 'visual minutes' or graphic recording work. This involves creating a memorable visual record of the key outcomes from meetings, events or from printed material, that helps progressive organisations capture and express ideas visually - in words and pictures. It can help make complex ideas and information more accessible and shareable. I am especially passionate about working on socially engaged projects, especially those with a focus on the environment, the natural world, inclusion and mental health.
I am a proud collaborator with the artist's collective More Than Minutes , working alongside a talented group of self employed artists and illustrators to create vibrant large scale visual minutes live at conferences and events, or digitally and remotely.
I studied Fine Art at Edinburgh University & Edinburgh College of Art graduating in 2002, and after time working in the arts and mental health, went on to complete an MA in Illustration at Camberwell College of Art in 2009. I have worked as a freelance illustrator alongside bringing up my young family since then.
I work from my home studio in Portobello - Edinburgh's seaside town, where I live with my husband, two children and one badly behaved cat. When I'm not drawing, I can mostly be found in or by the sea, fuelling my terrible children's book habit, or halfway up a hill with my family.
